So, I got back to the UK a couple of days ago, and I have decided to take my research in a slightly different direction. Before travelling, I was looking at the value of graphic design within East Africa, and while I was out in Uganda, it became obvious to me that this wasn't quite the topic I should be focusing on. From my experiences and the body of primary research (lots and lots of photos!) I have brought back with me, I have decided to change my research theme to focus on the way in which graphic design and advertising has been affecting the globalisation of the rural areas of the country.
So... my new research theme is:
'The impact and influence of globalisation through graphic design and advertising on rural Uganda'
I now need to sit and sift through the 3000 photos I took to find the ones which relate to this topic, plus ask the other volunteers I was out with for any photos they might have, then take it from there.
